Olympic Knitting

Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, aka the Yarn Harlot has set up a Knitting Olympics. Being a little bit of colorwork and a some cables...I've decided to join up and use the BCC as my event. Two birds with one stone as the saying goes.

Jen of JenLa has created some buttons, if anyone wants one for their own blog--don't forget to save to your own server/photo host.

These were my favorites:

Maiden Post

I've been surprised at how difficult it is to get a good scan of the bicolor cable pics; perhaps IK has special paper to discourage people from scanning the patterns?

I've just ordered my yarn and am looking forward to starting it--I went for a fern/teal combo, with teal being the main color.

It's unusual for me to knit a sweater in the yarn specified in a pattern, but I thought, why not? Perhaps just this once. I have added a link to Elann's Highland Silk in the sidebar, because it seems to be of the same gauge, and if others see yarns that might be good to use, or are getting gauge with another yarn, please e-mail me the link and I can post it in the sidebar. You can use the KAL contact e-mail for that.

This will be my first Modesitt pattern. Should be fun, though I won't be doing those yarny buttons. I've got "better" buttons in mind. (aka, buttons already in the stash which would go well with the colors ;))
